Title: Buying an advance ticket using rail planner app Post by: BerkshireBugsy on April 12, 2015, 13:48:10 Hi all.
I need to travel from Thatcham to Barry Docks on Monday 13th and notice there is an advance fair that saves me a few quid If I book this via tha app do I need a printed copy of the transaction to to collect my ticket from the station (or TVM)? Regards BB Title: Re: Buying an advance ticket using rail planner app Post by: ChrisB on April 12, 2015, 13:58:03 If you register within the app it will send you an email with the booking ref which you then then read on your smartphone....so no you don't. If you can't read your emails, access them before going to ciollect & note down manually the ref number

I though that off peak fairs were only available after 9- is the app right ? I suspect it is and it is my understanding is wrong :) Title: Re: Buying an advance ticket using rail planner app Post by: ChrisB on April 12, 2015, 14:17:06 If you're worried about that, my app is showing an Advance for 60p cheaper still, at ^46.50
Title: Re: Buying an advance ticket using rail planner app Post by: ChrisB on April 12, 2015, 14:29:33 Just re-read - you've seen that Advance fare!
The off-peak is valid as you are effectively travelling away from Reading (and Reading fare is cheaper anyway, so you wouldn't buy and travel short). Off-peak is different depending on where you travel to Title: Re: Buying an advance ticket using rail planner app Post by: BerkshireBugsy on April 12, 2015, 14:52:17 Just re-read - you've seen that Advance fare! Off-peak is different depending on where you travel to Thanks ChrisB - I didn't want to tie myself down to a specific return service so bought an off-peak return. Paid for on-line and collected from the TVM at the station. This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
