Title: Re: Overrunning engineering works 15/3 Post by: grahame on March 15, 2015, 09:58:57 Quote Cancellations to services between Plymouth and Newton Abbot Due to over-running engineering works between Plymouth and Newton Abbot all lines are blocked. Impact: Train services running through these stations may be cancelled. Disruption is expected until 14:00 15/03. Customer Advice: First Great Western Tickets will be accepted on CrossCountry trains between Penzance and Bristol Parkway. That's a bit unfair - there is at least one timetabled HST from Plymouth to Paddington this morning that goes via Bristol. What is fanciful is the customer advice quoted - unless XC have got hold of some of these Hitachi Super-Express RRV bogies ... Title: Re: Overrunning engineering works 15/3 Post by: grahame on March 15, 2015, 11:20:21 Of course, if there was a duplication of routes that provided alternative routes at times of engineering, it would be very much less of a problem if engineering works such as these between Newton Abbott and Plymouth overran - or indeed such engineering works could be planned with a somewhat longer stoppage. Is the population to the south west of Exeter the greatest population in the UK to be served via a single rail pinch point?
