Title: Passenger focus to become Transport Focus Post by: grahame on February 26, 2015, 06:07:25 From "Passenger Voice" Electronic newsletter, received at 17:00 yesterday evening
Quote Exciting times ahead for Passenger Focus as we widen our remit and become Transport Focus. The Infrastructure Bill received Royal Assent and entered the statute books earlier this month. While we continue representing the interests of passengers, we will now also work for users of the Strategic Road Network ^ including motorists, freight and business users, as well as those who walk or cycle on the network. We^ll start using our new name on 30 March when we also publish our first road user research, our new road user newsletter, launch our rebuilt website and our first Transport Focus work plan for 2015-16. You can find out more about the new role here and if you would like to receive Road User Voice please email communications@passengerfocus.org.uk with the word Subscribe in the subject line. As well as a new name, we also welcome a new chair. Jeff Halliwell took over from Colin Foxall at the start of February, and he has already chaired his first Board meeting. He was pleased to be able to meet many stakeholders at our event on 15 January and has plans to meet many more over the coming months. Quote Transport Focus is the new name for Passenger Focus ^ this reflects some extra responsibility we have taken on. We are building on our experience in representing passengers to start work for the interest of all those who use motorways and the most significant A-roads ^ known as the Strategic Road Network (SRN) - in England. Our work on behalf of passengers will continue at the level it currently is and we will carry on making a difference for passengers. We are fully committed to our work on rail, bus, coach and tram passenger issues. To see what we have planned to do for each of the areas we cover, please download our work plan here ... The new name - Transport Focus , though, removes that user-lead approach in the name and makes it appear much more as an organisation which has a mandate across the whole transport industry, rather than a mandate to look after the travelling public.
