Title: From my latest journey
Post by: grahame on February 12, 2015, 07:00:21
I started a thread "how many stations have you been to in the last 2 months" a short while back ... but since then I've revisited some, and been to some more.    Can you place these pictures?

Just one each please for the first 24 hours (second attempt allowed if your first attempt is incorrect)

Correct - and quickly spotted for a station with so few calling trains or passengers!

The fourth picture is indeed Craven Arms - foremerly "Craven Arms and Stokesay".  And may I recommend the excellent lunch at the Stokesay Inn - a five to ten minute walk from the station

Looks like Knighton .. because it was taken at Knighton   ;D  ;D - yes, well identified.
I thought that would be one of the more difficult ones in this series too!

It's the dual Powys and Shropshire logos that give it away. Knighton station is in Shropshire - just - but the town is in Powys.

Since we're on the Heart of (Central) Wales Line, could picture 3 be Llandrindod Wells?

Indeed it could be - and is. Though known as "Llandrindod" these days.

Which leaves just the final picture to identify!

Last time I was there the signalbox still carried the full name.

Here's one I didn't post as I thought it would be too easy for people to get right:

But thinking about it, the station is now called Llanwrtyd (without the Wells) but the sign hasn't changed, so I could have been a real pedant!

And I thought it would be the most familiar to many members of the forum ... just shows how lots of us walk past places and things every day ...

I certainly walk past places and things, well, nearly every day... is it Rannoch?  ;D

The place in the picture has many passengers in a day as Rannoch has in a year!
