'Co-Bo' Class 28 diesel, built by Metropolitan Vickers and also known as 'Metrovicks'. This was the only BR main line diesel built with an asymmetrical wheel arrangement, having six wheels at one end and four at the other. During the sixties they featured in pairs on the Anglo-Scottish 'Condor' overnight express freight service, however they were deemed 'non-standard' during the rationalisation of the fleet and all were withdrawn in the late 1960s.. Post by: paul7575 on February 12, 2015, 11:52:00 I was another 08, but a Clayton would have been good because I actually drove one once (under close supervision), in the station goods yard at Alnwick - so must have been in the sixties just before closure.
