Title: George Osbourne - Plymouth Speech Post by: Kernow Otter on January 26, 2015, 18:50:20 One and All
George Osbourne has made a speech in Plymouth today, as reported in this link, http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/Osborne-says-8220-future-bright-West/story-25923990-detail/story.html (http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/Osborne-says-8220-future-bright-West/story-25923990-detail/story.html), with significant references to the future of rail within, and to and from the region. Highlights include thoughts of a new Devon and Cornwall franchise, and reference to a new cross Dartmoor line. Anyone would have thought there is an election looming..... Perhaps if you added other DMU services in the South West (to the south of the London - Bristol line, and to the west of Berkshire) you could call it "Wessex Trains"? Title: Re: George Osbourne - Plymouth Speech Post by: phile on January 27, 2015, 09:32:43 Is there a General Election coming soon ?
Title: Re: George Osbourne - Plymouth Speech Post by: plymothian on January 27, 2015, 15:49:49 Pure electioneering.
After promising the moon on a stick following Dawlish, it's hastily unthought-out political BS, to make you think they still care. Title: Re: George Osbourne - Plymouth Speech Post by: ellendune on January 27, 2015, 19:10:51 After all about half the seats in the South West are marginals!
Quote Marginal seats are not evenly spread: within England, 15% of seats in the South East have majorities of 10% or less, compared with 51% in the South West. In Scotland, 19% of seats fall into this category, compared with 45% in Wales.
