Title: HST coach letters
Post by: Worcester_Passenger on November 12, 2014, 22:51:26
I travelled on the 17:22 from Paddington to Worcester this evening (Wed Nov 12). An HST, with the oddest collection of coach letters that I have ever seen : ABBCDKLL.

There were reservations inside most of them, so I assume that whoever put them out started at one end and ignored the actual letters on the outside.

Once past Oxford, the announcements should've got complicated. "The next station is Hanborough. You'll need to be in the front three coaches to alight at Hanborough - that's coaches A, B or C." But there was no mention of the complications of two coach Bs.

ABBCDKLL.

My mind works in funny ways some times. I saw that group of letters and the first sentence that came into my mind was, 'ABBA COULD KILL'.  :-\

My reaction was that if I'd been dealt those letters in a game of Scrabble, I'd have simply handed them back and asked for a fresh set ...  ::)

Especially as, in standard rules, you'd have been given (or drawn) one too many. That said, BLACK, for 13 points basic. Never throw a C&K back. ;)

Oh, and just imagine if this was an 11 coach Virgin Pendolino. You'd have an F&U in the mix as well...

I've recently seen one or two HST sets with a coach X, presumably as a short-term fix for a coach which had a duplicated letter?

Honey honey, how you thrill me, ah-hah, honey honey
Honey honey, nearly kill me, ah-hah, honey honey
 I'd heard about you before
I wanted to know some more
And now I know what they mean, you're a love machine
 Oh, you make me dizzy
