Title: One year on - Santa trip - Music train - 14 December 2014
Post by: grahame on November 01, 2014, 09:57:55
On Sunday 14th December, it's a year since the TransWilts service was improved - and we're holding a day of celebrations.

The first train off Westbury will be rather special, and the organisation is being lead by the team at Wiltshire Council - I'll follow up with more details and links from them in due course.   We had a very wide range of possible outcomes in the first year - and we're coming in very much towards the upper end of those ... and that's very largely due to the support and working together of Wiltshire Council and First Great Western, with community help.

The second and third trains off Westbury will be taking children (and parent / guardians) to see Santa.  On the first of those trains, we'll have a carriage from Westbury and a carriage from Melksham, and on the second a carriage from Trowbridge and one from Melksham.  Lead on this is the Melksham Railway Development Group (who are well experienced in Santa trips on the line) ... tickets on sale in Tourist Information Centres in Melksham and Trowbridge, and the Westbury Visitors Centre.  See http://twcrp.info/santa

And finally there's a music train ... more for the adults this one - up to Swindon and back in the early evening.   Again more details to follow - "our" Phil is the lead on this; did you know we had an experienced organiser of such events (all be they usually static) on our team?  Banner organisation is the TransWilts CRP.

A brief update from me, simply to publicise this date, if I may?

The provisional itinerary for the first part of the day is as follows:

Quote
A celebration to mark the first anniversary of the Transwilts Rail service will be held on the morning of Sunday 14 December 2014 at Westbury Train Station.

The official event will begin at 10am and will include a round-trip on the Transwilts service to Swindon, returning to Westbury at 12:23.

09:45 for 10:00 at Westbury, followed by round trip to Swindon on 10:32 service (Wilts Council organised)

13:15 from Westbury / 13:30 from Melksham - to Swindon for Santa (Melksham Rail Development Group)

16:17 from Westbury / 16:20 Trowbridge / 16:30 from Melksham - Santa (Melksham Rail Development Group)

First Santa trip sold out.  Very few seats for second - ask at the TIC in your starting town by Thursday
Folk train - come along and pay on the day.

I'm sorting out final Santa logistics tonight - looks like I'm doing the radio interview, then my next event responsibilities are with the Santa train.  Any extra folks who would like to help - please email me - graham@wellho.net

Could you ask Santa to bring us some signalling that works in the Thames Valley please?  :D
