For use as a public display somewhere in Melksham (needs work) http://atrebatia.info/booth.php Title: Re: Experimental web pages Post by: bobm on October 26, 2014, 06:56:03 I particularly like number 2. Might try something like that for my own private use at Swindon.
I assume this will be on a screen rather than an accessible PC, so it is a pity you cannot suppress the links on the bus pages - but I understand why not. ;D Title: Re: Experimental web pages Post by: grahame on October 26, 2014, 07:47:43 I particularly like number 2. There are actually links on the railway ones too - but you don't realise it from the style. On the short departure board, click on a station and you'll find more about where it's headed and destination times. Yes - screen and controlling Raspberry Pi computer Title: Re: Experimental web pages Post by: bobm on November 04, 2014, 07:39:50 Have you tried running the screens for an extended period?
I have been keeping a tab open with the Swindon screen and after an extended period (over 8 hours) it seems to make the PC slow and eventually stop. Title: Re: Experimental web pages Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 04, 2014, 07:57:14 If you are sitting looking at the Swindon screen for more than eight hours at a time, you definitely need to get out more. ;D
Title: Re: Experimental web pages Post by: bobm on November 04, 2014, 08:20:48 Few would disagree with that. Indeed yesterday I had a very pleasant circular rail/bus trip from Swindon to Didcot, Abingdon, Wantage and Oxford.
When I got back I found the PC frozen having left the tab open. On the other occasions it has been running in the background while I have been doing other things. Even I have better things to do than play station announcers all day. ;D This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
