No clues - just a picture:

I'm going to hazard a wild guess and say you were at a heritage railway.

I'm suspecting the South Devon Railway?

Right, on both counts.  ;) :D ;D

It was a very fortuitous timing (due to a mild flirtation on my part with the barmaid in The Trout at Staverton) which caused me to arrive at that classic photo opportunity, where the A384 meets the railway:

Think so ... it was the loco that gave me the clue to the South Devon.   Just had to research who had a "Dean Goods" type jobbie, then filter out the Glous and Warks references where it used to be  ;D.   Looks nice - never seen one IRL!
