Title: How much recovery time do you NEED?
Post by: grahame on September 01, 2014, 17:34:33
I've become quite used to spotting a few extra minutes in the last leg of a train journey to help ensure it reaches its destination on time ... but this one too the biscuit.

Allowed - 115 minutes.  Actually taken - 7 minutes.

Does anyone have any more extreme examples?

In this case I don't think it was recovery time. Judging by the "No Reports" it looks like it missed out part of its schedule/route and was allowed to run early.

Yes. Booked to wait 90 minutes at Carnforth Station (second time), before heading into the West Coast Railway's sidings. I assume various shunting manoeuvres had to be carried out and plenty of time was allowed for that in the working timetable. Although not all that time was required on the day.

Steamtown no longer exists as a public museum. It's now a repair facility for heritage traction.
