I travelled on a turbo today that had been populated by Reading Festival returnees and the thing absolutely ponged. Are any special measures taken to clean sets?

Yes. All Turbos used by returnees from the Reading Festival will be withdrawn from service and quarantined until such time as they return to being sufficiently fragrant to the olfactory senses of commuters.

That this may impact on peak time services in the Thames Valley in the coming days is regrettable. But a slightly whiffy train is not acceptable, and FGW recognise this. So FGW will be laying on replacement bus services smelling of pine forests, dewy meadows and herb gardens.

I had the delight of travelling on a train into London yesterday morning with quite a few damp festival returnees. It wasn't too bad whilst they were on the train and didn't move.. But once they'd all got off there was a distinct odour left behind  ;D

During Glastonbury Festival I was on an Up HST heading for London which called at Castle Cary :-X

I was just being served my lunch from the Travelling Chef when the festival goers herded into First Class and it was inevitable there was not going to be sufficient seating space. A group of girls decided to take up residence in Coach K so I stood up allow one to sit in the window seat. Sat down again. Then she decided she wanted to sit facing the other way. So up I get again, seats exchanged and thetrout reseated. By I'd say around Westbury/Pewsey, the girl now sat next to me had fallen asleep on my shoulder/arm...

Does First Class get declassified for people travelling to/from the festival?

Castle Cary to London prices ... the difference (off peak) First to Standard is only going to be around 40 pounds per person per single journey - or around 25 pounds per journey in two together.  When you look at festival entry at 210 pounds and start adding in all the other costs too, can I suggest there's a realistic possibility that some festival goers would have concluded it was a good investment to get improved on train facilities and lounge use at Paddington.   Sometimes we forget that although the typical first class customer is [complete your view here], that's at most just a tendency ... and many classic assumptions have been incorrectly made in the past, and no doubt will be in the future.

I hope Ladyfriend Trout believes that perfectly innocent explanation.  ;) :D ;D
