Title: Re: Chaos Post by: John R on January 11, 2008, 17:32:13 Yes I had an hour's wait at TM before a coach came to take passengers south. Having passed the railway at Flax Bourton I can understand why it's closed. Water over the rails and water pouring onto the track from what looks like an aqueduct.
Passengers were pretty stoical and accepted the situation. Roads are pretty bad too. Title: Re: Chaos Post by: Timmer on January 11, 2008, 17:39:40 The weather sure is making up for the pretty dry Autumn we had. No sign of any dry weather to come either :(
Title: Re: Chaos Post by: yatton_passenger on January 11, 2008, 20:17:06 absolute nightmare?
gave up on getting the train from Bristol to Yatton after was told there was a two hour wait for a coach, as no trains were running. got a bus instead, which couldn't go to Yatton because it was a flooded, so had to Clevedon in the end. Can't blame FGW this time. Its only going to get worse though by the looks of the weather for the weekend. Title: Re: Chaos Post by: Timmer on January 11, 2008, 20:22:09 absolute nightmare? Welcome to the forum yatton_passenger. Sorry to hear that you had a difficult journey home. The weather has caused quite a few problems around our region today particularly between Bristol-Taunton and Bristol-Cardiff as well on the roads. gave up on getting the train from Bristol to Yatton after was told there was a two hour wait for a coach, as no trains were running. got a bus instead, which couldn't go to Yatton because it was a flooded, so had to Clevedon in the end. Things should hopefully begin to return to some normality tomorrow but bear in mind quite a bit of rolling stock in the Bristol area is in the wrong place/short of destination, particularly XC stock that couldn't make it to Devon and Cornwall though some made the long diversion via Bath this afternoon. Title: Re: Chaos Post by: Timmer on January 11, 2008, 20:28:22 Relief for EK who managed to make it home without too much problem. And yes wait for it...praise for FGW!

Thanks for the welcome!! apparently the main line between the Weston and Bristol has been washed away in places, so It could take a few days to repair the line i guess. There were still loads of cars in the car park at Yatton so i guess a lot of people have not made it back yet. Title: Re: Chaos Post by: mada on January 11, 2008, 20:59:31 I got into Highbridge at 20:09 after getting to Parkway at 16:00. The rail replacement coach wasn't too bad and I even did some driving theory revision on my laptop! ;D
Title: Re: Chaos Post by: willc on January 11, 2008, 22:48:39 No need to worry about FGW's future, as. according to The Guardian website's account of today's weather problems, we have gone back to the future
Quote A GWR spokesman said this afternoon: "There are no high-speed services out of Paddington although we hope to run some again later today. Title: Re: Chaos Post by: Lee on January 12, 2008, 11:12:38 Related article links.
