Thought i'd mention the lovely flooding situation across the region...

Line problem between Bristol Parkway and Newport South Wales.

    Train services between Bristol Parkway and Newport South Wales are being disrupted due to flooding.Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes can be expected.

    Replacement road transport is in operation between Bristol Parkway and Newport in both directions.
Line problem between Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads.

    Train services between Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads are being disrupted due to flooding.Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes can be expected.

    Replacement road transport is in operation between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton in both directions.
Line problem in the Wootton Bassett junction area.

    Train services between Bath Spa and Swindon are being disrupted due to flooding in the Wootton Bassett junction area.Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 100 minutes can be expected.

Line problem in the Yeovil Pen Mill area.

    Train services between Westbury and Weymouth have been disrupted due to flooding in the Yeovil Pen Mill area.Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes can be expected.

Yes I had an hour's wait at TM before a coach came to take passengers south. Having passed the railway at Flax Bourton I can understand why it's closed. Water over the rails and water pouring onto the track from what looks like an aqueduct.

Passengers were pretty stoical and accepted the situation. Roads are pretty bad too.

The weather sure is making up for the pretty dry Autumn we had. No sign of any dry weather to come either  :(

absolute nightmare?

gave up on getting the train from Bristol to Yatton after was told there was a two hour wait for a coach, as no trains were running.

got a bus instead, which couldn't go to Yatton because it was a flooded, so had to Clevedon in the end.

Can't blame FGW this time. Its only going to get worse though by the looks of the weather for the weekend.

Welcome to the forum yatton_passenger. Sorry to hear that you had a difficult journey home. The weather has caused quite a few problems around our region today particularly between Bristol-Taunton and Bristol-Cardiff as well on the roads.

Things should hopefully begin to return to some normality tomorrow but bear in mind quite a bit of rolling stock in the Bristol area is in the wrong place/short of destination, particularly XC stock that couldn't make it to Devon and Cornwall though some made the long diversion via Bath this afternoon.

Relief for EK who managed to make it home without too much problem. And yes wait for it...praise for FGW!

apparently the main line between the Weston and Bristol has been washed away in places, so It could take a few days to repair the line i guess.

There were still loads of cars in the car park at Yatton so i guess a lot of people have not made it back yet.

I got into Highbridge at 20:09 after getting to Parkway at 16:00. The rail replacement coach wasn't too bad and I even did some driving theory revision on my laptop!  ;D

No need to worry about FGW's future, as. according to The Guardian website's account of today's weather problems, we have gone back to the future
