Title: Puzzled of Taplow
Post by: eightf48544 on July 07, 2014, 15:53:27
As you might have seen in my previous post I am off to Mirfield next Monday 14th on GC from KX for teh princely sum of ^7-15 with railcard. It's going to cost me more to get to KX from Taplow.

Then I'm off to Slaithwaite (a through ticket from KX was much more costly than the ^1.70 ticket it will cost from Mirfield.

Now I going to try and buy this ticket on line through Chiltern just to see if it can be done.

National Rail enquiries gives me two fares from Mirfield to Slaithwaite ^1.70 with one change at Huddersfield and ^3.50 Via Dewsbury and Huddersfield which involves going the wrong way and coming back non stop through Mirfield.

Now when I go on Chiltern it only gives me the via Dewsbury services but at a cost of ^1.70 Anytime.

Why? Just another quirk of the system?

Also how much will Northern get if I buy this ticket with my credit card through Chiltern and pick it up from Taplow?

Still don't know the answer to the conumdrum but I went to the Crossrail Exhibiton? at Maidenhead see post under Crossrail.

Was asking why Taplow booking office was close Tuesday morning. Apparently it opened late and the ticket machine is back working. I was told I could buy a ticket at Maidenhead between any two stations, so got my 1.70 ticket and a Frist Advance from Macclesfield to Taplow at just over ^30. Will report on Virgin First Class when I get back.
