Title: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Post by: Mookiemoo on January 09, 2008, 22:47:08 20:58 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 23:25
9 January 2008 This train will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.It will no longer call at: Worcester Foregate Street. This is due to a member of train crew being unavailable. So if the train crew can be available at shurb - why cant they walk the few hundred yards to be available at foregate? Or am I missing something Title: Re: Er ....... Post by: grahame on January 10, 2008, 12:05:34 So if the train crew can be available at shurb - why cant they walk the few hundred yards to be available at foregate? Guesses .... They don't know the route. They are on a safety break and so legally cannot do so. They are delayed and so wouldn't be in time. Did someone comment that this train runs ECS to Foregate Street? If so, could be an issue with the ECS leg Title: Re: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Post by: grahame on January 10, 2008, 12:07:04 They don't know the route. I just noticed that could be read in a sarcastic way which has NOT intended. I meant "they may not have signed for the route beyond Shrub Hill" Title: Re: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Post by: Btline on January 10, 2008, 19:26:17 Errrr.....it is more than "a few hundred yards," and takes at least 15-20 mins (having done it many a time when my Central train was terminated at Shrub Hill).
There is no way the staff could get to Foregate in time. Ok: 10-15 mins with a power walk! Title: Re: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Ok: 10-15 mins with a power walk! 10 minutes I do it regularly with a large back pack 5'3'' 14 stone female so cant exactly accuse me of being an athlete 0.6 miles according to google And since average walking pace is 3mph....... Its 10 at most Title: Re: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Post by: gaf71 on January 11, 2008, 01:29:28 Staff are not allowed to walk anywhere carrying revenue equipment. i.e. ticket machine, cash etc.

Its 10 at most Yes, but there are numerous road crossings (bad ones) etc. You can't really take Google's value. It has certainly taken me >10 mins and I tend to power walk, even when I am not in a hurry! Title: Re: Er ....... They are only a few hundred yards apart..... Post by: smokey on January 11, 2008, 19:02:24 Took me over an hour to walk home the mile from the pub once, but I didn't take the shortest route,
