Title: A traditional "where's this?" quiz
Post by: grahame on April 20, 2014, 19:07:11
Six photographs - can you identify where they were taken?   1 guess each in the first 24 hours and I expect they'll all be correctly identified long before that time is up!

1. Weston-super-mare, identified by Four Track, Now!

2. Swindon, identified by Chris from Nailsea

I, too, was going to start with 1 as being Weston super Mare - but it was really rather too easy, looking at the bottom right hand corner of that picture ...  ::) :o ;D

;D Ha ha! I didn't notice that until you pointed it out, Chris, and it's a daft name for a boat IMHO. I was just excited to be first for the first time since I became FT, N!

Sorry, no

6. Sheffield

Yes - correct.  I expected that one to be one of the latter ones to go - you are well travelled, Brooklea!

3 Junction of the Cowley Branch at Hinksey, just south of Oxford.

Correct.

When I was up in Oxford last week, I was learning that substantial development in and around Cowley has given rise to the thought of using this line for public transport provision from Cowley.  Idle chatter at "GRIP minus two", or something more?

As we're now outside the 'one guess only in the first 24 hours, please' restriction, may I now suggest that picture 4 is at Chippenham Station, looking across from platform 1 to the disused platform?  ;)

You may, and it is.   Just one picture remaining

Using the Connecting Wiltshire logo as a clue..... Melksham?

Yes, indeed.

When the car parking was improved in December, it initially resulted in fewer (but better!) spaces ... down from 8 to 5 for general parking.   As an interim measure, these additional spaces are now available just across from the station (a much shorter walk from car to train than at Chippenham, for example).  Further plans are to replace these interim spaces with a further parking area in the near future as traffic grows

5. is Melksham I'd guess, from the mechanical digger in Reed's yard in the background.
