Title: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: bobm on April 16, 2014, 21:56:32 Came across this Great Western Leaflet in a second hand shop and thought it might occupy a few minutes over Easter.
Keep the answers to yourself when you have solved them - but I'll post the last page with the solutions after Easter. Blimey! I'm struggling with some of these ... ::) Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 20, 2014, 21:24:37 I'm still working on them - just giving a gentle 'bump' for this topic ... ;)
Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: JayMac on April 20, 2014, 21:52:29 Do we send our answers in on the back of a postcard? ;D
Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: bobm on April 22, 2014, 08:07:42 And here, as promised, are the answers
(http://www.mbob.co.uk/rforum/gwreast4.jpg) I think the younger generation in the 1930s could have shown us a thing or two if they successfully answered all these correctly. ;D Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: eightf48544 on April 22, 2014, 15:52:01 What about the answers to the teasers Question 8?
The one about three tail lamps is interesting. Glasson tells of being on the Up Relief between Didcot and Reading and finding a freight train in front with two red lights and white! Quite unerving until they realised it was on the Up Main! Apprently it was the guards job to change lights when the train changed lines. They tried to rouse the guard but he seemed to be asleep. Also the 100mph much contested! Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: bobm on April 22, 2014, 15:56:56 I hadn't spotted that eightf48544. No mention of it on the leaflet - posted in its entirety.
By the way is it Gasson or Glasson - read his books and they make fascinating reading as do Adrian Vaughan's ones set a bit further west. Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: grahame on April 22, 2014, 16:01:10 What about the answers to the teasers Question 8? Only one answer makes sense in each case bearing in mind the questions. For example, if there was a question "what do you find on the front of every train that passes North Pole" then the logical answer wouldn't be "101 miles in 60 minutes", nor "Bodmin Road". Title: Re: Easter Quiz for fun Post by: eightf48544 on April 22, 2014, 22:10:47 Grahame ypour question "what do you find on the front of every train that passes North Pole" has really stumped me.
