From a poster I saw outside the ScotRail admin office it's all First Group companies which are involved in the Nectar offer.

Would seem to be the case. ScotRail's website homepage has gone Nectar purple!

With the FGW site you also get Nectar points at the rate of 2 per ^1 on purchases of Rovers and Rangers including the All Line Rover.

At present it seems you cannot collect points on tickets bought via the FGW phone app.

Its on all FG TOCs booking engines and you'll get 100 points if you register your card for the first time. So im wondering if you register on all 5 sites would you get 500 points:??

To reflect the fact that you can collect Nectar Points with ticket purchases through all FirstGroup TOCs, not just FGW, I've re-named this topic.

I've registered my Nectar card with all five of their TOCs. Just waiting to see if I get 5 lots of welcome bonus points. :)

My 100 points from FGW have already registered.  Just linked my card on all the other First sites so I don't forget when I book with them.

And also noticed that my 1000 points for buying anything (I bought a ^1 tomato plant) at Homebase registered too.  (Brucey top tip: check your Nectar bonus offers online regularly)

I concur - got my 100 bonus points plus points for buying tickets within a couple of days of purchase (and before I travelled in fact!).

I registered for all 5, and have now received 500 bonus points.

500 points bonus, might have to take advantage of that before nectar/FG close the loophole.

Ive noticed however that upon registering with TPE and HT that they have said I get 200 points each for registering.

Yes. The bonus points for registering have also been doubled to 200 points with the current double points offer.

Erm ... I must admit to having quite deliberately missed not one but two trains home from Bristol Temple Meads this evening - simply because the Wetherspoons in Temple Quay was selling pints of real ale at ^1.49.  Apparently, it was the end of the beer festival, so they were having a 'clearance sale'.  I did my best to help them out, obviously.  :P ::) ;D

I have just had 4x 200 points credited from the other First Group companies.

What with my 1000 bonus points from Homebase, 3000 bonus points from Vision Express and 900 from First Group, it looks like I'll be shopping in Sainsbury's next week.

Does anyone else think the allocation of Nectar points for Season Tickets rather unfair? - a set number of points means that if you pay a small amount (i.e. travel a short distance) for your season ticket it's a far better deal than if you pay a lot for your ticket due to having to travel further.

I would have thought the customers providing the larger revenues should at least get as good a deal as the others.

So what? It's a free offer....better than nowt, surely.

I agree that it's better than nothing  ;), but the way Nectar points seem to work in most places the amount you get relates to what you spend, so if you spend ^100 in Sainsbury's you get more than someone who only buys a newspaper.

FGW have now issued an update for their iPhone app which gives Nectar points on purchases. Not sure about Android.

I can confirm there is a similar update has been pushed to Android as well as iPhone. The app just updated over a cup of coffee ;D

I have just had an email stating that Nectar points are now available on the Virgin Trains website.  Same deal as First: 2 points per ^1 spent.

I saw a poster here in Melksham advertising the Virgin Trains Nectar points (outside a Sainsbury's) The press release about it on their website is dated 12/08:

Seems thetrainline.com has now got in on the act - offering Boots points for transactions through their site.  I wonder if you get points on their card surcharges and delivery costs?  ;)

Does surprise me they still sell any tickets when FGW and others offer the same service gratis.

When you get stupid tv adverts that people remember with the guy from the inbetweeners voicing it, thats why people book via them.
Im not sure, but I dont think the TOCs are allowed to advertise via TV. I know they do maildrops (as FCC got told off for claiming only they had the cheapest tickets via their own website when in fact they were just normal walk up fares).
EC now claim they have the cheapest tickets via their own website and offer a lowest price guarantee. (Clever really when you consider they offer a 2% EC Web discount on EC priced tickets).

Has anyone else noticed a delay in Nectar points being added to their account from FGW recently?

When the scheme started the points used to be there within 24 hours.   I bought some tickets last week and again on Monday of this week.  None of the points, together with some I earned yesterday, have been added yet.

Have been told that following the introduction of the double points promotion at the start of October there have been some technical problems adding the points.  This should be resolved in the next few days.
