Rail commuters faced disruption on Thursday morning following the theft of railway cables in south Wales.

Arriva Trains Wales said signal failure hit the Valleys network causing a number of services to be cancelled.

Buses replaced trains between Radyr and Cardiff Queen Street stations and the firm said Cardiff Bus was accepting train tickets.

The firm said on Twitter that it and Network Rail were "doing our best to get services back to normal".

Arriva Trains Wales tweeted that the cable stolen which had been stolen from an area in the north Cardiff had been found burnt out in a wood.
