Title: 5.49pm Paddington to Maidenhead (oh and on to Worcester Shrub Hill)..
Post by: johoare on March 18, 2014, 19:16:19
Reading on FGW's area on facebook it looks like this has been turbotised this week due to Cheltenham races needing the HST for their passengers.. All well and good.. I don't tend to get that train anymore anyway.. One comment though by FGW on there was that it was well advertised at stations that would be affected..

I disagree.. No signs at Maidenhead and I've been for a wander recently to see what is advertised.. On platform 4 obviously as that is the platform for trains into London so therefore where I spend a fair amount of time.. Communication fail? Or is it me?

good point.. Sorry work is so busy I'm struggling to keep up.. ::) ::)  However my comment still stands.. There were no signs at Maidenhead telling passengers of this change..

There was an HST terminating at Shrub Hill when I was there at 20:00 last night.

Nope - no signs at Maidenhead, or Paddington as far as I'm aware.

Also the 18:18 Padd-->Maidenhead was only a 3 car turbo last night.  Which was stupidly busy, funnily enough.

And today's 12:06 from Foregate St to Paddington has become a Turbo (and a 165 at that). I was expecting a 180 but the change isn't listed on 'Current train running' so I must be mistaken. Or am I?

That might well mean the 15:52 PAD-WOS is a 3-Car Turbo tonight then.  Avoid.  Though to be honest there's little difference between a packed 180 and a packed 165, indeed the Turbo has a smattering of extra seats!

First time that the four Class 180 diagrams haven't been covered in a while from my observations.

I was chatting to a fellow passenger this morning who I know always gets that train home.. And not only was it changed from an HST(8 carriages) to a 3 car turbo every day last week.. Apparently the platform announcement was also very last minute each day... :(

Tonight's 19:48 to Worcester Shrub Hill, first stop Maidenhead, was a little cosy tonight as it was missing Coach E.  So I assume it's working tomorrow morning, the 07:08 to London, will also be similarly a 2+7.

18.18 padd>oxford is still a shortformed turbo this week. Its very annoying.
Can anyone shed any light as to where the missing carriages have gone?
Thanks

I imagine the decision to short form the 18:18 is taken as a last resort. When the train arrives at Oxford it splits to make the 20:01 and 20:07 services back to Paddington.

I thought the 18:18 was however a 6 car tonight?
