Title: Wiltshire Police Problem
Post by: Alan Pettitt on January 20, 2014, 21:11:33
Having been working with the Police in Salisbury this evening I have been told of their forthcoming problems when there will be no custody provision in Salisbury and they are not sure how to arrange transport for their 'prisoners' to Melksham. Anyone on the forum have any ideas?  !

It has been noted that  the various Wiltshire courts are up and down the line and that the TransWilts is an excellent way for court staff, barristers and judges to get between them.   The custody suite in Melksham is quite a way from the town. I had a meeting at the police station there a couple of years back, and worked out that for a 2 hour meeting I needed to leave on the bus from near home at 17:00 and I would get back at 23:50 ... much as I would like to suggest the train for transfer of people under arrest, I don't think it's 'on' until they re-open the Devizes line that goes right beside the police place, and run it 24 x 7.
