Quote Manchester city centre tram death causes delays A man was killed when he was hit by a tram in Manchester city centre, police have said. The man, who has yet to be identified, died when he was struck near Debenhams in Market Place at about 18:15 GMT. Fans trying to get home from Old Trafford after Manchester United's win over Swansea were advised to avoid the city centre after the incident. The tram network was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the scene and after there were long delays. The rail network was working as normal so people were advised to use trains where possible.
