Title: TransWilts - last night's meeting planned events for the new year ... Post by: grahame on December 31, 2013, 16:17:35 An excellent Melksham Railway Development Group meeting last night - and attended too by the key community officers of the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership. A chance to review the first three weeks of operation of the enhanced TransWilts services, the progress with ancilliary works, and the marketin behind the services. And to consider how we'll move forward in the immediate and near future to further enhance service awareness in all the various aspects, and the utilty of the service and its associated elements. Finally, to take a look ahead at following stages in what's a rapidly changing railway environment.
You may think that a 30th December meeting would be sparsely attended with lots of apologies and people anxious to get away. You would be wrong; we were clearning extra table space and discussions went on long after the usual 9 p.m. finish for these meetings. Looking ahead ... some dates in our diary for early 2014 (TransWilts CRP and other local groups). Meetings and events marked "*" are open to all / you can just turn up. 3rd January 2014 - CRP Business Plan Working Group 7th January 2014 - Formal notice of TWCRP AGM to be sent out * 21st January 2014 - "Rail for Business" - Melksham Chamber of Commerce * 22nd January 2014 - "The New First Great Western Franchise" - WWRUG 31st January 2014 - Supporting Papers for AGM to be sent out * 7th February 2014 - TransWilts AGM and also day of media events 25th February 2014 - ACoRP meeting / probable consideration of TWCRP membership * 28th February 2014 - Melksham RailWay Development Group 1st March 2014 - TravelWatch SouthWest (Taunton) * 22nd March 2014 - TransWilts Link (Westbury) Title: Minister's visit to Wiltshire, 7th Feb 2014 Post by: grahame on February 02, 2014, 07:53:10 On Friday 7th February, the Right Honourable Baroness Kramer, Minister of State for Transport will be visiting rail projects in Wiltshire including the Heart of Wessex / West Wilts Rail User Group, and the TransWilts line. arriving at Westbury from London, she will look at community projects there before taking the train to Chippenham, where speeches will be made - including perhaps some significant announcements. She will then return to London in the afternoon. This is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the recent huge steps forward in Wiltshire under the LSTF (Local Sustainable Transport Fund) and Community Rail, and for us to listen and learn about the thinking and current approach at the Department for Transport.
