Title: first class season differential east of Swindon Post by: John R on December 20, 2013, 22:50:42 I've noticed that the cost for first class season tickets is around twice the standard class fare east of Swindon, whereas the normal increase elsewhere is 50%. As an example, Swindon to Paddington 7760 Std/15192 1st. Some fares are well over double.
Has this always been the case, or is it a recent change designed to help justify the cutting back of 1st class accommodation? That's because it is normal fares policy to overprice long distance standard fares so you might find a per mile comparison more equitable for first class. NSE v IC? Which is why I've always recommended split ticketing (along with a copy of the NRCoC with the rules) to pax that ask.
