Title: Pictures - opening days of the new TransWilts service
Post by: grahame on December 17, 2013, 15:54:23
I've placed a series of new images at the top of this page, showing the first days of the new service on the TransWilts. My thanks to Bob M, Richards Cowell and First Great Western for permission to use various of these pictures, and there are some of mine there too.   I will add commentaries as I get a chance, telling you what's what.  Or - who can you identify?

If you click on individual images, they'll some up larger

You may notice, unusually, some operational staff shown in such a way they can be easily identified.   As they appear on the official FGW pictures ... names in the press, etc ... there isn't quite the normal "protecting privacy" to consider. Similarly, parents agreed for son / daughter with Santa pictures to appear.

... and, on a slightly more serious note, I was delighted to see Duncan Hames, MP for Chippenham, supporting the new service (holding an Avantix machine which I must assume he borrowed from someone, rather than claiming it on expenses).  :P

I know the Guard (the big guy standing next to the MP).  I witnessed him being pushed and hassled by a scumbag passenger without a ticket on an HST several years ago.  I gave him my business card as a witness to the incident but never heard any more about it.   Good to see he is still with FGW.
