Title: Signalling problems 13/12/2013
Post by: Alan Pettitt on December 13, 2013, 19:32:46
Not very impressed with FGW cancelling 1249 Frome to Weymouth today, (well it seems that it wasn't really cancelled, just didn't stop) the other trains just ran late but left us with a 5 hour gap between trains southwards from Frome, surely better to cancel one on a more frequent service?

The service was diverted from Bristol to Castle Cary via Taunton. If it had run via Westbury it would have suffered severe delay and possibly would not have made Weymouth in time to work the return service. I expect buses were provided for Frome, and there was also ticket acceptance agreed on local buses.

Fair enough, no announcements at Frome though, and now - it gets worse,  having altered my day's plan I am now at Westbury with the 1955 back to Frome cancelled.  Oh what a happy day!
