Title: Santa comes to the TransWilts - 08 Dec 13
Post by: bobm on December 08, 2013, 20:58:51
Owing to the need for me to reclaim an item of lost property  ::) I made a second unscheduled trip on the TransWilts today and caught up with Santa!

Despite problems with a number of wheelflats laying low a few Class 150s FGW were able to provide three carriages in the shape of a 150 and a 153 for Santa's 15th trip on the TransWilts.

The Santa Special waits at Swindon for the return journey

With a chill in the air most passengers made the sensible decision to stay in their seats during the layover at Swindon, although Santa is used to the cold!

Then, after waiting for a couple of late running services to cross our path, the train made its way back to Melksham with over 100 happy parents and children who disembarked at Melksham, leaving a fair few other passengers on the train for the rest of the journey to Westbury

The FGW conductor and driver put themselves out to make the trip a success.  The driver carefully positioning the rear two coaches by the platform at Melksham while the conductor manually opened each set of doors to allow people to get off as easily as possible.

A successful end to a great day on the TransWilts.
