The first pictures of Ilfracombe^s new land train have been unveiled by North Devon Council.

The pictures show the Dotto train in its final stages of assembly - with work currently being undertaken to complete the installaion of the train^s seats and curtain rails.

The work on the train is being carried out in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy.

It is expected to be delivered to Ilfracombe Museum on November 18, before being revealed at the town^s Christmas lights switch on, on Wednesday, November 27.

The two-carriage train which is capable of carrying up to 50 people is being introduced in a bid to capitalise on the recent increase in footfall in the town.

Hope they have made it user friendly for the First Lady of Ilfracombe! One wonders where she might put her sword....

ILFRACOMBE will be treated to a new and expanded train service from next month when its Dotto Train returns to the town.

It comes after operators Filers Travel said they had been surprised by the overall popularity of the train in its debut year, with more than 7,000 people using the service in 2014.

Somehow I wouldn't have been very happy with 7000 journeys (I'm guessing that's what they mean) on the TransWilts last year ... in fact we might be able to do better here in Wiltshire if we ran the Dotto train from a suitable station to Stonehenge ...
