Title: South Wales Metro Phase 1 go ahead Post by: anthony215 on October 09, 2013, 19:57:24 The Welsh Government have annouced today that they are going to spend up to ^600 million on different projects which includes ^62 million on phase 1 of the south wales metro. This includes bus and rail proposals.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-24461501 Small change to the full cost which has been projected at ^2billion but it is a start. Some of this money I expect will be spent on new stations including I hope those at Brackla and St Mellons as well as the passing loop north of Tondu on the Maesteg line. One of the bus proposals has already started and that is the express service T9 between Cardiff and Cardiff Airport which runs from around 4am til midnight. Hopefully once the Welsh government is given more borrowing powers we will see more money to invest in public transport in wales which I do hope will include a return of nightbus services around Cardiff and perhaps certain services in Swansea.
