Line problem: between Bristol Temple Meads and...

Owing to emergency services dealing with an incident between Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood all lines are blocked.

Impact:
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 75 mins or revised at short notice. An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.

Customer Advice:
Owing to the nature of the incident several train services are at a stand in and around the Bristol area as Network Rail are having to be guided by instructions from the police before these services may be moved.
First Bristol buses have agreed to pass First Great Western ticket holders on the following bus routes :-
1/54 Bristol Temple Meads - Clifton Down
8/9 Bristol Temple Meads - Clifton Down - Redland - Bristol Temple Meads
20 Bristol Temple Meads - Montpelier
40 Bristol - Clifton Down Shirehampton
40A/41 Avonmouth - Shirehampton - Clifton Down Bristol
70 Bristol Temple Meads - Montpelier - Filton Abbey Wood
X73/73/73B Bristol - Filton Abbey Wood - Bristol Parkway
75/76 Bedminster - Parson Street.

Apparently there has been someone on a bridge at Lawrence Hill in a distressed state since 11am.

According to the Bristol Post, I deduce that the incident is on the bridge where the Bristol-Bath cycle path (i.e. the old Midland line) crosses the main line - see full article (http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BREAKING-NEWS-Police-negotiating-man-bridge/story-19656478-detail/story.html)

It's my understanding he was talked down in the end. Inflatable cushions were requested but the fire service were not able to source any appropriately sized, which seems fair enough!

Not without significant service disruption though!

I passed around 13.30. There were 2 BTP cars and a paramedic in Lidl's car park. Russell Town Avenue was closed.
