Title: Cardiff-Builth Road Post by: welsh1980 on July 22, 2013, 21:18:34 The Royal Welsh Show train between Cardiff-Builth Road and return was a 153 and 150 today. I think usually its a pair of 150s.
How are Arriva coping this week with the other Heart of Wales trains, are they being strengthened to 2 or 3 car to meet demand? And where are the extra units coming from? However, I can offer you a warm welcome to the Coffee Shop forum in the meantime, and I'm sure some of our established Welsh members will be able to provide some more information here! :) Title: Re: Cardiff-Builth Road Post by: welsh1980 on July 22, 2013, 23:05:22 Thanks for the welcome! :)
Title: Re: Cardiff-Builth Road Post by: anthony215 on July 23, 2013, 19:28:13 I noticed this extra service yesterday while at Pyle station awaiting the 07:51 Swansea service which I was traveling onto Baglan.
Not often I can say Pyle has a very good frequent service (i.e. departures orwards Port Talbot at 07:51, 08:10 & 08:20 although the 08:10 was going to Builth Road.) My return train from Baglan however was not as great. It is supposed to depart Baglan at 13:32 instead because of a delay somewhere which required the train to be held in Swansea until the 13:28 Swansea - London Paddington service had departed it eventually arrived at 13:55. A class 150 was the traction and there was very little people onboad, no surprise considering the hst was only 7 minutes in front of it at some point. As for the Swanline services I will be glad when they go over to EMU's and we get a better frequency such as a half hourly service like what was planned originally Title: Re: Cardiff-Builth Road Post by: phile on July 23, 2013, 19:34:55 They usually try to provide 150+153 Combos for the normal services and 2x150 for the Special. However, I travelled on a 2x150 Combo on 14 04 Shrewsbury to Swansea. There are enough Units allocated and the norm is to work round Maintenance schedules to provide the additional capacity.
