Title: Heart of Wessex Observer
Post by: grahame on May 28, 2013, 22:42:59
Not a railway train in any picture - but still a Heart of Wessex Ranger theme.  Can you place each of these images?  Each is taken in a location where you can go on your Heart of Wessex Ranger ticket. Try one each for the first 24 hours

1. Maiden Newton - Timmer

2. Swindon - The LastMinute

6 is Bath I think.

Yes, it is ... showing the new airport bus that started running a couple of months back.   Looks smart, and a handful of passengers; let's hope they have a good summer season to get the service well established.   I picked up a leaflet at the bus station to have on hand for our hotel guests as this makes Bristol Airport a practical prospect from us by public transport.   5 p.m. - crowded bus station, and the information centre staff trying to serve everyone and get them out the door quickly so that they could shut up shop and go home too.  Shouldn't  the information centre be open during the peak hour form 5 to 6, rather than closing at the start of it?

3., 7. and 8. to go.   All pictures taken within the last seven days, if that's any help.

Bath is correct, and near the new exit - looking up from the London side staircase.

7 Bradford-on-Avon

Yes - that's right - from the temporary footbridge.

Leaves just number 3 to identify:

Number 3 looks like the Weymouth Seafront "land train" - but I don't know where the picture was taken.

It is indeed ... taken from that new lift / tower thing that gives views over the whole area from the way out to the north pier. Interesting ride to take once - not sure I would do so every time if I was going to Weymouth regularly again this year!
