Title: Wiltshire's new cabinet - Highways and Transport appointments Post by: grahame on May 20, 2013, 11:51:41 Following the unitary council elections in Wiltshire, the new Cabinet has been announced. Dick Tonge, whose brief included highways and transport, now has a new role, with his old role split. From the Wiltshire Council web site:
John Thomson Deputy - Leader and cabinet member for highways and streetscene and broadband Fleur de Rhe-Philipe - Economy, skills and transport http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/latestnews.htm?aid=140931 Councillor Richard Gamble, formerly Portfolio Holder for Public Transport (taking that specific element for Dick Tonge) has been appointed as Portfolio Holder for Education, Skills and Youth, and I understand that Fleur de Rhe-Philipe will be directly involved herself with public transport rather than though a replacement portfolio holder. I would like to wish Dick and Richard all the best for their new roles - and indeed I may very well find myself in contact with them on the periphery of my other roles. After all, I run a training centre which skills people up. They have been a pleasure to work with. And I look forward to being able to work well with Fleur in the future for appropriate sustainable integrated transport across all modes to meet the needs of a modern Wiltshire.
