I stupidly bought this month's without checking the calendar.  It expires on Sunday 24th March.  The following weekend is Easter, so I'll only be in 3 days as I've also taken Thursday as annual leave.

This means I'll end up paying ^97.35 (3x the tickets shown below) for three days instead of ~^53 for an extra 3 days on the season ticket >:(

Is it possible to increase the length of a season ticket by three days?  I don't even mind paying an admin fee, as I'll be saving close to ^44 anyway.

Bedhampton to White City or Wood Lane (Zone 2) via Waterloo.  I must travel on the 0647 from Bedhampton and can't deviate from this train on the journey into work as I'll get there too late.  Return typically on the 1800 or 1815 from Waterloo.  Remember I have a 16-25 railcard.

Anytime Day Travelcard: ^43.70

Bedhampton to Godalming Anytime Day Return: ^12.00 (min fare)
Godalming to London Terminals Anytime Day Return: ^17.50
2x Oyster Singles @ ^2.80 and ^1.40 each
Total Cost ^33.70

Any other suggestions to get this down a bit?

How much is a weekly travelcard? Some are calculated on less than 3 x dailys....

And no, you can't add days to analready-purcased season.

Adding the odd day to monthlys before purchase saves you nowt except time buying the separate dailys as the full anytime return is simply added to the cost of the monthly. No discount of the dailys

No, the NRES season ticket calculator shows that daily add ons to monthlies are available at 1/30th of the monthly rate (+/- rounding), using last option selecting a number of 'days and months' here: http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/seasonticket/search

That's ^14.80 per day for my Winchester to Waterloo example. About a third of the full anytime return as you'd expect on that line...

Back to the OP after the toilet (humour) break. Sorry, that was my fault.

I think Brucey, you've discovered the cheapest options available to you after realising that you purchased a Season with greater validity than you actually needed due to the various days over Easter when you won't be travelling.

All I will add, for the future, is it's worth sitting down with a calandar and carefully checking exactly which days you will be travelling and then buy your Season tickets accordingly. You can buy Seasons for any period from one month to one year as I'm sure you are aware. You need to work out whether you will save money by buying monthlies+odd days, or having gaps between your monthlies and buying walk-up tickets during those gaps.

Don't forget annual leave and also compare the price of the annual season, bearing in mind that an annual effectively gives you around 6 weeks free travel versus 12x monthlies. An annual also gives you a Gold Card as well.

It looks like I'll have to flush away the idea of adding extra days.

The annual ticket is a no go at the moment as my work contract only has a few months left on it with no certainty that they'll have funding to keep me on.  I may also find another job elsewhere before then.

If bought in late December an annual also means that you are effectively one year behind in terms of fare increases.
