Title: Bob Godfrey on Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Post by: bobm on February 22, 2013, 22:07:09
Just been reading about the animator Bob Godfrey who has died - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21552718 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21552718)

I knew his work on Roobarb and Custard but I didn't know there was a cartoon of Isambard Kingdom Brunel which he produced called "Great".  I am a great fan of IKB but didn't know it existed.  I have had a look on the net but not managed to find a download of it.  Anyone know anything about it?  I have discovered Richard Briers, who of course also died this week, was the voice of Brunel on the film.

I doubt it will add much to my knowledge of the engineer - but it would be good to see the film which won Godfrey an Oscar.

I too went looking for this film earlier this evening after reading about the passing of Bob Godfrey.

My searching also led me to another documentary on IKB. This time a BBC programme called 'Breakthrough' presented by John Craven. Some great footage of the Western Region and HSTs.

I think you'll appreciate the footage from Swindon Works on that second youtube link.  ;)
