Not sure if I dare ask this after [advance] ticket discussions elsewhere - but can anyone point me to the Ts and Cs for tickets on the Manchester Metrolink.    I'll be getting an adult return from Piccadilly to Media City tomorrow.
a) On the outbound journey, am I allowed to get off at Harbour City and walk the rest of the way?
b) Can I break my journey on the return to take some pictures from outside the station at Salford Quays?
The answer's probably staring me on the face on their web site, but I can't find it!

Metrolink Return tickets are valid for 90 minutes from the time of purchase for the outward journey. The return journey must be made the same day.

There is nothing in the Metrolink Conditions of Carriage (http://www.metrolink.co.uk/using-the-network/Documents/Conditions%20of%20Carriage.pdf) that expressly allows or disallows a break of journey, so that's one for which I'd call them and ask about.

Alternatively, for an extra couple of quid on your return fare you can buy a Tram Day Travelcard for ^4.90 and hop on and off at your leisure!

I believe they are both possible. A almost certainly, B is a highly likely...

The restriction on a Single Tickets and ONLY the Outward Portion of a Return is that the journey needs to be completed in 90 minutes. For some journeys a change of Tram is required so effectively a break of journey could be done.

Take Piccadilly Gardens for example, You may wish to change Tram there but whilst waiting want to pop across to the Bus Interchange to check or collect a timetable. If the journey A - B (Maybe via G) is completed in 90 minutes it's valid AIUI.

Also the fare between Piccadilly and Harbour City is the same as to MediaCityUK. I believe the prices are done on fares.

I recently did a journey on the Metrolink (Shudehill - Piccadilly) Yes I know I could've walked but for ^1.10 I couldn't be bothered. But my ticket has the following:

From: City Zone
To: City Zone

So if you abide by the 90 minute time limit and say within the zones for which you've paid, I'm sure you'll be fine ;)

Yeah ... I suspect I'll be all right.  And (all) thanks for the T&C link. Says a lot, but doesn't answer the ticket question. (a) is a common question, I suspect, with only half of the trams doing that bit from Harbour City to Media City.

It is a true historic record of the birth of a light rail network from the ashes of a heavy system that was left to rot on the vine.

Only picked this up this a.m. .... and on a slow connection and too late to join and p.m. ...  will look at those pics later.    There were ticket checkers on duty at Piccadilly - friendly to question, so I asked a pair ;-).   OK to stop off short, and even perhaps to break journey on outbound provided it's complete within 90 minutes.  OK to break on the way back.  Note - NOT an "official" answer, but one from the coalface enforcers themselves.

(bit of a thread hijack here, but it is nearly 10 years old!)
I happened to spot the previous dog ban fairly recently and thought it seemed bizarre. Not sure why they need a trial as the rest of the country has effectively been doing that for them for many years. I've not come across public transport anywhere else in the country with such a rule and I doubt it would occur to many dog owners visiting Manchester that there might be a ban. Only once had trouble with a dog on public transport and I suspect the owner would have been trouble with or without an animal in tow.
