East Croydon.
As for number 7. I've met one or two very disturbing train drivers. :D Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: Chris from Nailsea on February 19, 2013, 22:46:39 As for number 7. I've met one or two very disturbing train drivers. :D ^ What he said. ;D Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 19, 2013, 22:53:21 5. East Croydon. As for number 7. I've met one or two very disturbing train drivers. :D Indeed. On both counts ;D Ya, East Croydon... On a positive note for Btline - ECR Still uses Phil Sawyer ;) :P :D Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: Southern Stag on February 19, 2013, 23:11:27 4-Redhill? Can't think of anywhere else where a Southern 377 and FGW 16x would meet other than Reigate which doesn't have an island platform, perhaps very occasionally at Guildford. That looks rather like the island at Redhill as well. The sign outside Redhill when I was last there was rather interesting, it listed Southeastern and FGW Link as TOCs serving the station. Southeastern don't service Redhill anymore and FGW Link are long gone.
Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 19, 2013, 23:24:55 Can't think of anywhere else where a Southern 377 and FGW 16x would meet... You don't need to... It's Redhill ;) *edit* I took that picture from inside a Class 377 which I boarded from one of the very stations that SE used to serve before the route was handed to Southern ;) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: paul7575 on February 20, 2013, 08:36:23 2. Farringdon. (Thameslink side.)
View of the southward extension towards the Snow Hill end. The brickwork section shown is below the original underground station building, they weren't allowed to open it out for some reason so each platform has a massive brick bridge pier at about the 4 car point of a 12 car train, leaving a pretty narrow platform with this 'passageway' behind it. Paul Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: brooklea on February 20, 2013, 09:14:01 12. Harrow and Wealdstone
The fences on the fast line platforms weren't there on my last visit. Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: ReWind on February 20, 2013, 09:45:25 10) is Taunton

Paul Correct. Farringdon. Assuming we're talking about the Snow Hill in Birmingham then wrong direction ;) everything else you've said is about right though ;) On the right side of the passageway there is indeed a rather narrow platform 12. Harrow and Wealdstone The fences on the fast line platforms weren't there on my last visit. Correct - Harrow & Wealdstone 10) is Taunton No Sorry. Feel free to have another go ;) 14 Moorgate Met line bays you can just see the blocked off Widen Lines platforms on the right. Ya. Moorgate Metropolitan Line Bay Platforms :) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: anthony215 on February 20, 2013, 15:38:18 I am going to take a guess and would say number 8 is London Victoria
Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: grahame on February 20, 2013, 15:46:29 Is no. 9 Westbury?
Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 20, 2013, 16:11:45 I am going to take a guess and would say number 8 is London Victoria It is indeed; London Victoria Is no. 9 Westbury? Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: Fourbee on February 20, 2013, 19:25:55 I'll have a punt on number 7 being London Bridge. NR signage, looks like some building work going on and there is a "bridge" exit IIRC.
Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: LiskeardRich on February 20, 2013, 20:52:15 9- Salisbury?

Paul Correct. Farringdon. Assuming we're talking about the Snow Hill in Birmingham then wrong direction ;) everything else you've said is about right though ;) On the right side of the passageway there is indeed a rather narrow platform I think the reference is to Snow Hill tunnel which is immediately to the south of Farringdon Station. In which case it is the opposite direction to Birmingham! So he is right. Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 20, 2013, 23:34:57 10 is Westbury It is indeed ;) I'll have a punt on number 7 being London Bridge. Taken on one of the through platforms :) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 20, 2013, 23:37:43 9- Salisbury? Correct. Salisbury it is. In fact that FGW 158 is the same 158 that is in Picture 10. Well 24 hours has been and gone so the rest are up for grabs ;) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: JayMac on February 20, 2013, 23:46:03 The Network SouthEast clock in #13 is bugging me. Could it possibly be East Croydon again?
If not, am I warm? And again, if not, could I have a clue? :P Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 21, 2013, 01:55:31 The Network SouthEast clock in #13 is bugging me. Could it possibly be East Croydon again? If not, am I warm? And again, if not, could I have a clue? :P Not even close I'm afraid... A Clue Sir? sure... Station is served by the same TOC that serves the station in Piccy 3 ;) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: Fourbee on February 21, 2013, 10:54:01 The Network SouthEast clock in #13 is bugging me. Could it possibly be East Croydon again? I never get bored of the ticking of these clocks standing on the platform even if they did go haywire now and again. I liked the design as well. Seeing it go from 09:59:59 to 10:00:00 was wierdly satisfying as well with the clunking as the numbers changed in sequence. Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: JayMac on February 21, 2013, 12:04:39 3. Shenfield?

However the clue that suggested it was that the platform where the photograph was taken from has a different electrification system to that alongside, and it looks to be LU style DC; and LU and NXEA meet like this at Upminster, where the Romford shuttle service terminates on the north of the station alongside the LU lines. Paul Yes, Upminster ;) You're also right in that the picture is of a Class 321 on the Upminster - Romford Shuttle. ;) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 21, 2013, 18:03:08 So Just 1, 6 & 15 Left to get folks... Anyone need any clues?

In fact that FGW 158 is the same 158 that is in Picture 10. Not bad to get that correct! Was an educated guess of where FGW 158s go and SWT 158/9s go! Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: inspector_blakey on February 21, 2013, 21:18:58 Going to take a shot in the dark at Sheffield for number 6.
Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: brooklea on February 21, 2013, 22:01:23 I've a feeling 13 is Tottenham Hale. Am I right?

Tottenham Hale ;D Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: grahame on February 23, 2013, 19:55:57 To help this along ...
1. Chingford 6. Doncaster 15. Swanley and I will be aMAZEd if any are even close! (Good change though, trout, to give hints by telling me if I'm hot, warm or freezing cold!) Title: Re: thetrout Out and About Trouting (A Quiz) Post by: thetrout on February 23, 2013, 20:34:39 1. Chingford: Right County... Wrong TOC ;-) So I'll say warm...
6. Doncaster: Luke Warm... You can get direct trains from Doncaster to that station 15. Swanley: Also Luke Warm But if I told you that every picture was taken on the same day with the exception of 6 which was taken on Thursday last week (14/02/2013)... That might make it a little easier perhaps? ;-) This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
