Title: Offer for travel in Germany Post by: basset44 on February 14, 2013, 14:48:04 Hi All,
Nice offer for travel around Germany for 5 or 6 days http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/prices/germany/german-rail-pass-big-four-promotion.shtml?dbkanal_009=L01_S02_D001_KNL0020_J2013M02T14-001_53547816695_ID5_LZ01 I have done a few of the trips and there are some nice views plus great trains Basset Title: Re: Offer for travel in Germany Post by: 81F on February 14, 2013, 20:45:05 I just looked at this as it appears to be a very good offer. But it seems to be available only to people with a permanent address outside Europe.
"Please note: The German Rail Pass offer only applies for people with permanent residence outside Europe, Turkey and the Russian Federation. If you are European and live outside Europe you must have left more than 6 months ago (the stamp in your passport is decisive)." http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/prices/germany/germanrailpass.shtml The inclusion of /USA/ in the website address would seem to indicate that this offer is aimed at transatlantic visitors. Title: Re: Offer for travel in Germany Post by: Kernow Otter on February 15, 2013, 08:10:40 Last time we stayed in Germany, in the Black Forest, we used B&B accommodation. Each night's stay got us a 24 hour travelcard for the following day valid on all local buses, trains, and trams - Complimentary as well.
As we were on a walking holiday, it was a fantastic unexpected add on enabling us to get to and from the walking routes, and even back to Baden Baden airport. Would love to see it adopted in some of the tourist regions of the UK, but can't ever see that happening ! Title: Re: Offer for travel in Germany Post by: rogerpatenall on February 15, 2013, 09:06:27 There used to be a similar included travel card scheme on the Isle of Wight - I'm going back a few years, so don't know if it is still available from hotels, guest houses, etc.
