But they were in for a surprise when they were greeted by a vehicle sitting in the middle of the designated work area. Undeterred they carried on with the work as planned and built a little ramp in front of the car to allow the owner to drive out without damaging the Mercedes. A Network Rail spokesman said: "The motorist moved the barriers and parked in the worksite, but we've left a ramp for them to exit and will be happy to return their vehicle once they contact us." The driver had moved barriers blocking off this area of the car park to park in that spot, and they built him a ramp down from the space to the dug out area.
