Title: Chaos tomorrow, 091207!
Post by: vacman on December 08, 2007, 19:46:43
There are 83 turns un-covered tomorrow due to "traincrew unavailabilty", and as yet not even half of the Train managers have been trained on SDO so expect plenty of cancellations next week!

21 out of 26 service incidents showing up at the moment are "train crew unavailable".  Perhaps they're all getting some kip before driving 158s North  ;D

There seem to have been quite a few trains either cancelled or stopped short of destination due to "train crew unavailable" today.

It's the HST's that are more likely to be cancelled as FGW HST drivers don't have to work sundays but West drivers do!

dear god that was fun...

Now we have a platform 4 at BPW, fgw seem to think its a good idea to run a 158 off the portsmouth > cardiff every hour as a replacement for buses whilst engineering works between swindon and BPW block off HST routes... Bad call

The usual 3 bus loads of people turned up for this train (which was 52 late) And try to get onto an already full and standinding 158...

After a struggle, i'd say over 3/4 got on. So the 158 had maybe 250, if not more. people on it?

Arrive in newport, "this train has now been canceled", 3 minutes later, station staff tell us to get back on, as this "train is now not canceled"...

Eventually arrive in Cardiff 2 hours after i arrive at BPW...

Oh the fun!

have you ever considered being a weather forcaster vacman? as you were spot on :P

Today a HST failed Freshford, caused a massive farce at Westbury, however the staff rose to the challenge, and everyone was gone by 21.30!

Quote
Strong winds overnight blew sections of the roof at Penzance railway station on to the tracks, leading to delays.

A First Great Western spokesman said the line at the station had been cleared of all roof debris on Sunday morning but warned of some delays and cancellations and advised people to check times before travelling.

There was a 50mph (80kmh) speed limit on the line from Penzance to Plymouth in case of fallen debris.

wasn't the station roof that came free, was the depot at Longrock.
