Quote Maidenhead railway station was closed for 15 minutes this afternoon and evacuated due to a fire. Crews from the Maidenhead fire station attended a fire caused by a faulty light fitting at the station at 4pm with the station closed for 15 minutes while the small fire was dealt with. The station was evacuated as a precaution with passengers also not allowed to get off of alighting trains. Firefighter Crouch said: "I can imagine the people on the trains were not to happy, but the fire was contained to a small area, did not spread and caused no damage." Crews left the scene at 4.30pm.
