Rail authority to investigate line floods

Network Rail says it is commissioning work to deal with flooding on a Weston estate which has left residents battling with standing water for months.

People living in Milverton on the Oldmixon estate have seen water soak grasslands several times. One incident left the neighbourhood without working toilets and filling gardens with water.

Malcolm Ham, of Kilve, near the area, says he would consider legal action if his house is flooded due to the problems. He said: ^If my house does get flooded I would sue the council for not doing their job properly.^

Residents believe water may be flooding into the area from the nearby railway line.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: ^We are sorry to hear about the ongoing problems regarding a blocked ditch at Milverton. An inspection was carried out by our maintenance team recently and it confirmed that we need to clear vegetation before we can find out why the flooding is occurring. Our drainage engineer is aware of the flooding issues and has commissioned surveys. As soon as we have cleared the vegetation and analysed the survey results, we will allocate the work to contractors and update residents accordingly.^
