Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: ChrisB on July 20, 2012, 14:50:53 FGW extended their Twitter hours from 8-4 to 7-9 on Monday last. Would rather have 6-8 personally....but I doubt Jo on Twitter would welcome that much of an early start....
Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: BerkshireBugsy on July 20, 2012, 15:20:38 It's during events such as this that information and progress updates are invaluable, so well done to the team who ensured this happened - both the on-train team and those who update the website & twitter feeds. Totally agree! Sadly, the timing of the start of my morning journey is prior to the fb/twitter feeds coming online which is sad because they are genuinely very usefull. I think asking Jo to work longer is not on...but maybe we could club together and have Jo cloned?! Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: ChrisB on July 20, 2012, 15:38:45 Jo isn't working longer - a certain member of this parish is covering the pm shift....I'll let them identify themselves if they so wish,....
Jo is, I think - 7-2, and the other person 2-9..... Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: grahame on July 20, 2012, 15:49:14 Good to see the hours expanding.
To fuel the discussion on whether they would be even better 'slid' earlier, here's a graph (6 or 7 years vintage) of journey start times (http://www.savethetrain.org.uk/bystarttimex.jpg) Footnote - the * symbols are the times that the TransWilts services start, showing how they're before the peak in the morning, and after the peak in the evening (resulting in no practical commute opportunities); with a later morning and earlier evening train too, the existing trains will become useful as 3 more commute opportunities are added Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: ChrisB on July 20, 2012, 16:36:28 Difficult to tell, but it does look as though more travel in the 0600-0700 hour than the 2000-2100 hour....
Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: IndustryInsider on July 20, 2012, 16:39:10 That's the journey start time though. Problems don't necessarily happen then!

Difficult to tell, but it does look as though more travel in the 0600-0700 hour than the 2000-2100 hour.... The ticket consultation that ended last month include a graph showing journeys ongoing at each hour ... page 111, http://assets.dft.gov.uk/consultations/dft-2012-09/main-document.pdf . Public document, so I think I can quote with reference: (http://www.wellho.net/pix/intransitat.jpg) (We've done a lot of looking at what "peak" is ;) ) Title: Information about train disruption from FGW on twitter Post by: Ollie on July 20, 2012, 23:40:55 Jo isn't working longer - a certain member of this parish is covering the pm shift....I'll let them identify themselves if they so wish,....
