New Police Officer Vacancies ^ London and the South East

Joining the UK^s only national police force as a Police Officer, you^ll take on a crucial frontline role in one of the most challenging environments there is. British Transport Police is the national police force for Britain^s rail network, providing a policing service to rail operators, their staff and passengers throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Every day, on over 10,000 miles of track, we keep more than 6 million people and 400,000 tonnes of freight safe and secure. It^s a massive task and it demands huge amounts of talent and determination to succeed.

Our Police Officers have to be the best. There can be no exceptions. Situations can transform in a split second, so you^ve got to be ready for anything. Whether patrolling, responding to an emergency request, investigating criminal activity, gathering intelligence or reassuring emotional members of the public, you^ll always be highly responsible, highly visible, and highly effective. You^ll maintain order, carry out arrests and collaborate with the community to combat local crime at the grassroots. From fraud to murder, graffiti to theft, you^ll be there - wherever and whenever you^re needed.

To make the grade, you^ll need to relish variety and challenge. A natural communicator, you will be able to build instant rapport with people from all walks of life ^ whether part of a crowd, stressed or angry. Highly diplomatic and calm under pressure, you^ll be able to make decisions quickly and effectively and never lose your head in a difficult situation.

Don^t expect this to be an easy job and the hours can be highly unsocial. However, there are few others that are as interesting, exciting and fulfilling. You will also receive a fantastic benefits package including pension scheme, 22 days holiday and corporate discounts.

We are recruiting for intakes which will take place in 2013 to fill the following positions:

London - all areas
Peterborough
Ebbsfleet
Oxford
Southend
Kent
Guildford
Portsmouth

The closing date for applications is Midday on Wednesday 3rd October 2012 or once the required level of applications have been received; whichever comes first.

I was unsuccessful..  Not surprised TBH, so many people for so few positions they can afford to be VERY fussy!  I have, however, applied to the specials!

Sorry to learn that you were unsuccessful, vacmanfan - but as you say, it's a very competitive situation. ::)
