Title: It's getting hot, so prepare for a disruptive evening peak today (25th July)...
Post by: IndustryInsider on July 25, 2012, 12:51:46
Speed restrictions being imposed from 2pm with the temperature heading towards 30 degrees.  This from journeycheck:

Owing to speed restrictions at London Paddington trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines.

Impact:
Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised at short notice. Disruption is expected until 18:30 25/07.

Customer Advice:
A speed restriction to all train services in the Paddington area will commence at 14:00, this is due to high temperatures affecting rail conditions. Customers are advised to check their journey times before travelling.
London Underground and London Buses are accepting First Great Western ticket holders between London Paddington and Greenford via any reasonable route.
Transport for London services are conveying passengers between London Paddington and Greenford in both directions until further notice. Arrangements have been made for First Great Western rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

"Impact" is probably not the best word choice here.

No!

Anyway, some more info:  Blanket speed restriction from Paddington to Kensal Green on all lines of 20mph between 2-6pm.  No other restrictions, so quite why such a drastic restriction is required there I don't know!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'd been wondering why the Greenford services were so badly affected.

Could it be to do with the large steel worm wigling its way from the north side to the south side of Paddington throat
