Title: Rail vehicle maintenance
Post by: JayMac on July 24, 2012, 16:44:48
A question for this forums' rail industry staff.*

I was having a chat with a friend about maintenance of rolling stock and I wasn't able to answer his query about scheduled maintenance of rail vehicles.

I know of terms such as 'C6 exam' but don't know the specifics. Google hasn't been much help.

Would someone be able to tell me, in general terms, what each type of 'exam' is called, what it consists of and how often it is carried out? Are there different schedules for locos (eg Class 43), carriages (eg Mk III) and D/EMUs?

* Or others who may know!  :P
