Just been perusing Amtrak's North East Corridor on-board magazine - there's an article about sleeping (no, really) which is illustrated with a library photo of TIRED COMMUTERS in an old-style FGW first-class mark 3 (sans antimacassars) before those interiors were AXED.

I suppose tha makes up for apicture in teh GW on-board magazine of a Southern Pacific.

Not a Merchant or WC, which would have been bad enough in GW magazine but Southern of the USA.

On a similar theme, I was waiting to catch a Washington DC Metro train at Fort Totten station over the weekend: visible from the platform is a new housing development which has various big promotional posters displayed. One of these was highlighting its proximity to the WMATA Metro (and possibly MARC train as well) rail services, and was illustrated with...wait for it...a picture of an FGW HST at Paddington!

And where the Sussex is that?

It seems to be a generic (and apparently not copyright) image: a google search brings up examples of exactly the same image being used on a few Spanish and various other European websites - all non-specific illustrations for some vaguely railway-related articles / blogs.  :P

Thanks, Chris ...  I hadn't done such a search.   One of my favourite image-finding websites is Tineye (http://www.tineye.com/) and that lead me to the same image in Perth, Western Australia - http://www.pbc.wa.edu.au/courses/ .
