Title: Train trouble again today
Post by: johoare on May 30, 2012, 21:47:22
No idea what today's trouble was.. 6.51pm Paddington not stopping at Slough as it was all of ten mins late...7.06pm for Maidenhead full to overflowing... so I ended up on 7.18...

It's been "train trouble" nearly every day for the last week and a bit though in some shape or form.. Is it because it's the wrong kind of warm maybe? It's beginning to get a bit tiresome though to be honest..

Two problems in the pm peak today, there was a points failure at Maidenhead so for a period all trains were running via the relief lines which obviously caused huge amounts of congestion and further delays because of that. There was also a train which failed on the down main line at Goring so all down trains were running via the relief lines, again causing lots of congestion as to cross from the down main to down relief services also have to cross the up main lines. By the time the 18:51 from London was running ten minutes late it would have been running in the path of a train behind it and stopping at Slough on the main lines would cause a queue of trains behind it and further delays, in paticular the 19:00 Bristol and 19:03 Plymouth services were running very closely behind it, stopping at Slough as well would have delayed them further, and by that point the 19:15 Swansea service would have caught up.
