5 is Clapham Yard I believe - although you would have been standing on a platform at Clapham Junction - SWT side :)

7 Correct CfN - ParcelForce Depot at Bristol Temple Meads :)

5 Correct Ollie - Clapham Yard - Although you're wrong about where I took the picture. I wasn't on the platform, I was in a the DMCL of a Class 159 IIRC.

I'm sorry Mookiemoo... But it's not a HST or a 235 (perhaps you meant 253?? but it's not one of those either) nor is it East Anglian.

9 ) Trowbridge.

I'm impressed good sir! 9 is indeed Trowbridge! I thought that one would lul people into a false sense of security and think it was single track! :)

Oh, it's near enough!  ::)

I reckon I have a picture of the lower half of thetrout's traffic light:

21.  It's on Dorchester Street, outside Debenhams, between the bus station and Bath Spa railway station.  ;D

Yes the main question was the nearest station, but the name of the juction was the bonus.

Is 6 platform 13 at Bristol?

That's the flyingscotsmans guess so it doesn't count as two from me in 24. Just can't be bothered signing out and in again.

10 ) Westbury - Correct - ellendune

1 ) Sorry Electric Train - Not Colchester - Have another go!

11 ) Worting Junction - Near Basingstoke (Junction for Salisbury and Southampton Lines) - Devon Big Bird

12 ) Basingstoke - Correct - paul7755

18 ) Salisbury - Correct - Relex109

6 ) Platform 13 - Bristol Temple Meads -Correct Mookiemoo

21 ) Was a Trick Question... It is indeed Bath, But not Dorchester Street :( That one is St James Parade at the Pedestrian Crossing outside Halifax Bank. So the nearest First Group Station would have been Bath Bus Station. That was a little sneaky wasn't it?!!

What about my guess at number 4. Missing weekly season/travelcard.

Plat 13 wasn't my guess. Credit should go to flyingscotsmans

Title: Re: A picture quiz from TT :)
Post by: thetrout on April 22, 2012, 12:15:21
Sorry Mookiemoo... I did the answers there on my iPhone and must have missed yours :( :-X so my apologies there!

You're right about the Weekly Season being Missing from there. So I'll award points for that answer, but it wasn't the answer I was looking for. But my picture does leave a couple of other tickets off the screen, so I'll list that as a duff photo. The a answer I was after was the lack of a First Off-Peak Day Return. There is a First Off Peak Return and a First Anytime Day Return but not a First Off-Peak Day Return... Weird eh??

2 Class 442, Southern / Gatwick Express (I was going to suggest it being something from Greater Anglia due to the red logo on the poster but spotted the BR era chevrons in the reflection in the window, as GA's Mk3's have ex Virgin moquette that ruled it out!)

Yes: it was. :-X

I was in Bath again this morning, and you will all no doubt be delighted to learn that the rogue traffic cone has been removed from that traffic light.  ::)

I know quite a few of the places, so I'll take a stab at the TVM screen.

Those fares seem to resemble BRI to BTH, or BTH or BRI.  As the machine is Scheidt & Bachmann, I'm guessing it is at Bath Spa.  Missing option is probably the First Anytime Return, which IIRC is about ^20.

Title: Re: A picture quiz from TT :)
Post by: thetrout on May 01, 2012, 22:31:49
Yes you're correct Brucey - BRI - BTH Tickets.

Also CfN... I'm afraid that rogue traffic cone has found it's way back up there. I'm due to walk past there shortly so will take a pic if I remember... Unless we're thinking of 2 completely different places!

I'll leave the quiz open for another 48 hours before revealing all the unanswered answers and therefore claiming all the cake ;)

Well, to be fair, I was only passing through, on the road between Bath Spa railway station and Bath bus station on 22 April, but I didn't see any traffic cones on any of the traffic lights, on a very quick inspection.  :P

However, there are a lot of students in Bath ...  ::)

Oh back in the days when I may have been one of them..................... Perhaps the less said about that the better maybe ;-)

Forgot to say... Some excellent spots there :) A few of those I didn't think people would get so easily. I guess as grahame once said, we're a knowledgeable bunch :)

Hear are some clues...!

Suprised also that paul7755 hasn't got Number 1 ;) and that relex109 hasn't got the coffee one... (13 - on second thoughts the number 13 may have put him off ;) )

You can get to all the stations in pictures 1, 8, 16 and 17 on the same train :)

14 has toilets that are free of charge to use... the almost immediately adjacent station will relieve you of 30p (no pun intended)

15 is not served by any National Rail service, despite what the sign would have you believe!

3 serves trains to Barcelona and Madrid. But you could also go to France from their too, although it is quicker to change trains at Barcelona ;-)

Not sure of the station, but I believe a station on the Central Line is used for replacement bus services to/from as it would have been, National Express East Anglia, now Greater Anglia services.

Ah that makes me think it could be Newbury Park Underground then :)
Bus to Ingatestone?

Newbury Park would be the place I was thinking of, just couldn't remember the name of the station it was.

I'd concur with Newbury Park. That was certainly where I was dumped transported to by coach after a journey from Norwich to Ingatestone following my holiday in Norfolk last year.

Is number 8 Shenfield? A Class 315 would mean it is between London and Shenfield, and 5 platforms rules out most stations.
