1. Correct. Castle Cary. Devon Big Bird. 18. Correct. West Brompton. paul7755. 13. Sorry, no again EBrown. Have yet another go. Not many (International)'s left.... ;D Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: EBrown on April 06, 2012, 21:45:51 13. Sorry, no again EBrown. Have yet another go. Not many (International)'s left.... ;D Well, I knew it wasn't AFK, and the 'design' left STP, EBD, SFA. Because, the picture had wooden sleepers, I was inclined to go with EBD and SFA (Although couldn't think which one). I wasn't expecting it to be STP. :(Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: animationmilo on April 06, 2012, 21:46:56 is number 8, Earls Court ?
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: EBrown on April 06, 2012, 21:55:16 is number 8, Earls Court ? You are right. I, perhaps, should have gone with that rather than incorrectly going for 13. :)Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: JayMac on April 06, 2012, 22:01:55 8. Correct. It was only two days ago that I took the picture. I'm feeling charitable as you've made a bit of a chump of yourself - go on have a guess at another one (or retire hurt to the pavillion) ;D Here I am approaching AFK with the same Class 373 E* waiting in the platform: (http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/bignosemac/21.jpg) Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. I'm feeling charitable as you've made a bit of a chump of yourself - go on have a guess at another one (or retire hurt to the pavillion) ;D Well, the reason I went with not AFK was:I looked at the breeze block wall and (incorrectly) saw it as ugly concrete that I associate with SFA and EBD. (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DVAwFaM1sBw/T395yHEOy8I/AAAAAAAAAxo/FcnVS70qiN4/s272/10785.jpg) It's very disappointing given I travel the (AFK-STP part of the) HS1 line every week. It's also been a pretty big week for getting things wrong, for that reason, I'm Retired, Out! :) Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. 13. Correct. Ashford (International). EBrown ;) Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: westerleigh on April 07, 2012, 08:16:22 6. East Croydon?
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: grahame on April 07, 2012, 10:34:28 14 is on the Northern line, I think ... but I can't give the exact station. Prior to a rebuild, Angel had a narrow platform with tracks on both sides and was one of my least favourite places; I felt nervous when tubes ran in both sides at the same time. Didn't realise there were any of these left - or is it a historic picture?
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: JayMac on April 07, 2012, 11:30:42 6. Correct. East Croydon. westerleigh.
14. It's a current picture taken a few weeks ago. One of two remaining deep level tube locations where a narrow island platform remains. I, too, felt a little wary using the platform. Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Steve Bray on April 07, 2012, 12:02:51 14. Is one of the Clapham stations. North? Common?
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: JayMac on April 07, 2012, 12:33:34 14. Correct. Clapham North. Steve Bray. I'll give you that as you also named the other remaining deep level tube island platform!
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Oxman on April 07, 2012, 15:57:51 As no one else has said it, is 4 Didcot Parkway?

Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 07, 2012, 17:02:55 Picture 11 has an air of cosy familiarity about it - not just the station, but also the rather dodgy character helping a random lone mother with a babe in arms and a cumbersome pushchair up onto the train. ::)
11. Nailsea & Backwell. :P Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: thetrout on April 07, 2012, 17:13:16 Technically, I *may* have inadvertently cheated on this one... But is 6 Polegate by any chance??

Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: bobm on April 07, 2012, 21:00:29 Just a thought for these quizzes. Would it be possible to put the correctly identified locations against the photos at the start of the thread? When the thread goes into a third or fourth page it gets harder to keep going back and forth to see which ones are left, or in my case, see if you can recognise the place even with the answer!! It would be especially handy for those looking on the move and without the benefit of a large PC screen.
Just my twopenneth... Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Temple Meads on April 07, 2012, 21:08:40 5. Correct. Taunton. Temple Meads. Either there, or that pigeon (who is known to me personally) was off his home ground. :P Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: JayMac on April 07, 2012, 21:19:41 20. Sorry no not Bristol Temple Meads. Percy the Pigeon is at a location featured in another of the pictures.
Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 07, 2012, 21:26:18 The little blighter. >:(
Bath Spa, then - it's got to be a station with a curved platform. :-X Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: JayMac on April 07, 2012, 21:43:09 20. Correct. Bath Spa. Chris from Nailsea.
Incidentally, another flying pest, a seagull, was busy attacking one of the clear polythene bin liners that hang from the wall on the platform. He successfully tore the liner to get at some food within. Not sure the powers that be foresaw this problem when they started installing these new 'bins'. What's wrong with a proper bin? Oh yeah, the remote chance that a bomb will be placed in one. ::) Meanwhile the lack of proper bins causes a pest problem. Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 07, 2012, 21:49:26 Hmm. ::)
As an aside: the issue of seagulls versus clear plastic bags without mesh cage protection has been an issue with the Heart of Wessex Community Rail Partnership over the station at Weymouth for some time now. :P Julian Crow knows all about it. :-X Title: Re: bignosemac's Easter bumper picture quiz. Clue. Despite it being late afternoon I had the train to myself from here until it crossed the river. I alighted next to another station pictured and already guessed.
